Everton boss Roberto Martinez has said that he does not hold goalkeeper Tim Howard personally responsible for his side dropping two points at home to Leicester today.
Howard palmed a cross directly into the path of David Nugent to hand the visitors a lifeline into the game, and then flapped at a Danny Simpson cross allowing Esteban Cambiasso to slot Leicester into a lead before Lukaku rescued a point for Everton.
But Martinez says that he is not directly to blame for the drop of points.
“When Tim [Howard] is fully fit he is a very strong performer,” said Martínez.
“I think we conceded the goals because we had a fear of conceding rather than a player making the wrong decision.
“As a team we need to defend much better in those situations. I don’t see Tim as directly responsible for the draw.”
