Martinez: Howard not responsible for Leicester draw

tim howard against leicesterEverton boss Roberto Martinez has said that he does not hold goalkeeper Tim Howard personally responsible for his side dropping two points at home to Leicester today.

Howard palmed a cross directly into the path of David Nugent to hand the visitors a lifeline into the game, and then flapped at a Danny Simpson cross allowing Esteban Cambiasso to slot Leicester into a lead before Lukaku rescued a point for Everton.

But Martinez says that he is not directly to blame for the drop of points.

“When Tim [Howard] is fully fit he is a very strong performer,” said Martínez.

“I think we conceded the goals because we had a fear of conceding rather than a player making the wrong decision.

“As a team we need to defend much better in those situations. I don’t see Tim as directly responsible for the draw.”
