Lennon move could be scuppered

aaron lennon EvertonEverton could find themselves struggling to reach an agreement with Spurs over a permanent move for Aaron Lennon this summer, according to the London Evening Standard.

Lennon rejected a move to Stoke City in order to join Everton on loan in January, and would like a permanent switch at the end of the season, but with twelve months remaining on his contract with Spurs, they would want actual money for his services.

The England international has looked lively in his appearances for Everton so far, and his pace and natural enjoyment of playing out wide will be qualities Roberto Martinez will want in a player, but Spurs value him at £7m.

However, Everton chairman Bill Kenwright will point to his negotiation skills over re-signing Steven Pienaar from White Hart Lane.

Spurs wanted more than they paid Everton for the South African, but Kenwright got a deal which meant the Blues had money in the bank left over after the two deals were compared, while Pienaar moved back to Goodison Park after an unsuccessful stint in the capital.
